I used to jump between three different color tools just to start a project.
One for inspiration.
One for palette building.
One for cleaning it all up.
Each tool felt close — but never quite right.
Too broad, too clunky, or too rigid.
Worse, they didn’t match the task I was actually doing.
Picking colors for a UI?
That’s different from building a brand system.
And totally different from art direction for a campaign.
One day, mid-project, I hit a wall.
I needed a specific kind of swatch — and no tool gave me a clean way to get it.
So I built my own.
Then I built another.
And another.
Now I have 8 color swatch generators.
Each one tuned to a specific kind of design task.
Each one built to start strong, and get out of my way.
I don’t believe in “one perfect tool.”
I believe in the right starting point.
If you’re still forcing one-size-fits-all tools to do everything...
Maybe it's time to switch.
Or build your own.
PS;
Here is a link to the swatch generators.
And here is a quick review if all tools.
