Overview


This section is supposed to help you get started using this platform.

First Steps

When you first open the website, you will see a feed of colour palettes. The palettes are ordered by publication date with the newest first.Simply scroll and browse to find what you like. You can change the display mode on the right-hand side (on desktop) or by clicking the button in the bottom right-hand corner.

In the main side menu (on desktop) or by clicking the button in the bottom left corner on mobile devices, you can set the feed to display in either the most popular or in a random order.

Each palette has a context menu where you can copy the colour hex values. On desktop, you can hover over the colour patches in the palette display mode to see and copy the colour value for a particular colour.

You can select specific palettes temporarily by clicking the star button underneath each palette. Once you have made your selection, you can access it by clicking on the mini preview on the right (on desktop) or by using the selection button in the main menu on mobile.

You can access more information about each palette in the feed by clicking the info button in the context menu underneath each palette, or simply by clicking on the palette display to access a website with more information and details about it.

{info} Public palettes: Most of the palettes you see are public palettes. Either they are from the community or they are open source palettes. In case you have an account you may also have Private palettes. Private palettes will only be displayed in your feed if you are signed in. You can change a private palette into a public palette by editing the palette visibility in the palette edit area.

Filter functions

The top bar allows to filter and search for palettes. You gain access to a larger collection of filters by registering for a free account. With subscription you get access to all filters incl. in palette accessibility contrast.

Palette creation and editing

This section gives access to multiple tools to create palettes.

  • Manual: you may manually choose colors. This manual tool also allows find colors using color theory principles by pressing the dice button. With subscription you can change (hue, saturation and brightness) and color entire palettes.

  • UI Color is an automated search of two colors suitable for UI design that differ greatly in brightness and color and creation of a gradient between the two colors.

  • Art Color is an automated search for colors on a random curve in the color space. Creates completely different palettes that likely to feel coordinated.

  • Start Color is the creation of a palette based on color theory principles based on a selectable start color.

  • Wheel is an easy tool to directly work in the color wheel by drag and drop. Choose the color theory mode and explore what you get quickly by playfully moding the cursor on the wheel.

  • Distant colors is the creation of colors that are as separate as possible for good legibility and accessibility, but with selectable ranges for hue, saturation and brightness.

  • From image use your own images and extract palettes. The image is only loaded into the browser and evaluated. No transfer to the server.

Vault

The vault is the place where you find palettes you stored into your account. Saving to the vault is easy with the help from the context menus "Save to vault open". The vault itself is accessible via the main menu.

Collections

Collections are a great way to organize palettes. You may add a title and description. With subscription you may set a collection public, i.e. get a public link to show and have colleagues or customers like, vote or comment on the palettes.

Tools

This section covers future extensions with specialized tools for specific type of design challenges. You may browse common pain points and potential benefits. If this resonates with you sign up for the wait list, so we can implement a solution that helps our users save time.

Account

This is the place for all account specific settings and management tools.

  • Profile: Set name, email, password or delete your account.
  • Subscription: Choose your subscription, have access to invoices and payments and change payment method. We have choosen Paddle inc. to help manage subscriptions and payments, so this the interface for topics related to payment, invoices.
  • TwoFactor Improve account security with the help of a two factor authentication flow. When enabled and whenever you sign into your account you are asked for a time based code from an external acuthenicator app (there are many available for free).
  • Download Use this option to download your data and to delete them.
  • Reports In case you are subscribed and use collection on a public link, you may collect feedback that is not in line with the terms of this service. In this case users can file a report. The content in questions is no longer visible. If you think this content does not violate the terms you may propose to make it visible again, but you may also decide to delete it.
  • Logout to sign out from from your account.
